Summer Assignment: 9.2

Since this is the last post for the summer assignment, I would like to take the time to thank everyone for doing a great job. The comments were very thoughtful, and there seems to be some very interesting differences of opinion among you all; hopefully this will lead to some good discussions/debates in class.

There is no reading assignment this week. I want to know some of the topics you are interested in learning more about this year in class. It can be something that was covered over the summer, such as evolution, or anything else that you find interesting. We will do our best to cover as many of the topics as we can, but it may not happen till after the AP test.

Hmm. Aw. I actually enjoyed doing these things. Hahahhha. I probably think it is the only thing that I had to think about (except those journal entries).

I'm most interested in human evolution: how we got here? where are we going?

I really enjoy the topics about strange or unique creatures like the pentailed tree shrew because they have had a very interesting thing happen to them through forms of evolution. Also topics on different forms of parasites like the Camponotus leonardi which has found an amazing way to survive and thrive. There are still many more interesting topics in biology however.

One of the things I find interesting is the idea of building a vertical farm. Also I would like to learn more about the cordyceps fungus.

Hm.. I agree with Jordan. I would like to learn more about evolution, but not in humans. I'm very interested in the evolution of other organisms.

The most interesting articles were learning about the mirror neurons in the babies' brain, the drug rapamycin, the vertical farms, and the early riser mutants, but I am also interested in genetics.

I am really interested to learn more about different parasites and its host. I found the article that I read to be very interesting.

I liked the coping with excess article a lot so I guess I would like to learn more about evolution.

I think evolution would be the thing I am most intrested in. My favorite part of the summer work was reading about the cordyceps fungus because it was fasinating to see how fully the fungus evolved in order to affect it's host and reproduce so well in its enviornment.

The topic that I really enjoyed was about how the parasite is able to infect the insect and make it act in a way which would make it most beneficial for the parasite.

I was interested in the vertical farms and the cordyceps fungus. I have to now go back because some of my posts never even got submitted because the sign in was messed up on my computer.

I too also liked the vertical farm. The pill that could extend life was also interesting.

I would love to learn more about molecular biology. It's very interesting to learn about DNA, genes, and cellular functions. I would also like to learn how specific proteins in the cell interact with each other. Furthermore, I want to learn about mutations that occur within the cell and cause various diseases (such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, etc).

Thank You! This was a really fun education summer assignment. I loved reading other peers comments and thoughts/views about some topics.

Studying Biology is a passion for me. I would love to learn about the human body: diseases, new genetic therapy and lastly evolution- How we came on this earth?

I actually enjoyed each weeks blog due to the interesting nature of every topic. One of my favorite articles/videos was the one about the cordyceps fungus. This year in class I would like to learn more about the human anatomy in relation with evolution and biology. i hope the class is just as interesting as the summer assignments each week.

One thing i tend to do very well with is genetics. I hope we go more in depth with this topic because not only is it interesting, but i love to hear about new findings and research done regarding this topic. The blogs were a great project and I enjoyed doing them because it gave us all a chance to see everyone's creativity regarding the articles and what their thoughts were in response to mine.

I enjoyed reading about the early risers along with the article on a week without plastic and "How Happy is the Internet." I hope we get to learn more about these topics.
